Salvatore La Gatta 21st International Conference on Biological Inorganic Chemistry 2025

Salvatore La Gatta

Salvatore La Gatta received his PhD in Chemical Sciences in 2023 from the University of Naples Federico II (Italy), where he worked in Angela Lombardi’s group on the design of copper-containing metalloenzymes for oxidative transformations. There, he developed the first functional de novo designed protein featuring a type 3 copper site. During his PhD, he was also a visiting student in Paul Walton’s group at the University of York (UK). In 2023, he joined Prof. Vincent Pecoraro’s group at the University of Michigan as a postdoctoral research fellow. His current research explores how structural discontinuities in coiled coils influence hydrolytic catalysis in artificial metalloenzymes.
