Yuma Morimoto
Yuma Morimoto was born in Okayama, Japan in 1986. He conducted his Ph.D. study at Osaka University, where he explored electron transfer of transition metal complexes under the supervision of Prof. Shunichi Fukuzumi. During his doctoral course, he conducted research stays with Prof. Wonwoo Nam at Ewha Womans University in Korea and Prof. James M. Mayer at the University of Washington in the United States. Upon graduating in 2013, he joined the research group of Prof. Shinobu Itoh as a research assistant professor and was promoted to assistant professor in 2017. His research is centered on the development of environmentally benign catalytic systems inspired by metalloenzymes, with particular emphasis on elucidating the electronic structures of coordination compounds. In 2022, he joined the laboratory of Prof. Makoto Yamashita at Nagoya University as an associate professor, where he initiated new research on low-valent transition metal complexes. Since 2024, the laboratory has been relocated to Tokyo Institute of Technology (currently, Institute of Science Tokyo).
