W. Hill Harman
A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Hill obtained his B.S. degree in Chemistry in 2004 from the University of Virginia working in the lab of Prof. W. Dean Harman (no relation). Having fallen in love with transition metal mediated transformations of small molecules, he enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2010 under the mentorship of Prof. Chris Chang. Subsequently, Hill moved to Caltech as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Prof. Jonas Peters where he furthered his interests in cooperative small molecule activation and transition metal borane chemistry. Hill accepted a faculty position at the University of California, Riverside in 2013 where he is now an associate professor. His extracurricular interests include sailing boats both small and large, disc golf, and watching soccer.
