Aina Cohen 21st International Conference on Biological Inorganic Chemistry 2025

Aina Cohen

Aina Cohen is a senior staff scientist and a leader of the Macromolecular Crystallography group at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lighsource at the Department of Energy’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Her research focuses on the development of novel techniques and specialized instrumentation for macromolecular X-ray crystallography research at synchrotron and X-ray free electron laser (XFEL) sources. Her group was the first to fully automate the crystallography experiment and provide remote access to the synchrotron beamline. She also led the development of the experimental front-end of the highly productive micro-focus SSRL beamline 12-2. She serves as technical leader of the standard experimental setup for fixed-target serial diffraction studies at the Macromolecular Femtosecond Crystallography (MFX) instrument at the Linac Coherent Light Source and is working to bring techniques originally developed at the X-ray Free Electron Laser (XFEL) to the synchrotron to tackle challenging biological targets.
