Franc Meyer
Franc Meyer earned his Ph.D. with Peter Paetzold at RWTH Aachen (1993, borane cluster chemistry) and was a postdoc with Peter Armentrout at the University of Utah (1994/95, gas phase guided ion beam studies). On returning to Germany, he completed his Habilitation at the University of Heidelberg in 2000 and became Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Göttingen in 2001. His group’s research focuses on the bioinspired activation of small molecules, on energy-related proton-coupled electron transfer reactivity and on cooperative effects in bimetallic complexes, as well as on 3d metal based molecular magnetic switches. He is a member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences, the Royal Physiographic Society in Lund/Sweden, and the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. In 2022 he was awarded the German Chemical Society (GDCh) Prize for Inorganic Chemistry. He has served as an Associate Editor of the ACS journal Inorganic Chemistry from 2013 to 2024, and since 2021 he is an Associate Editor of ACS Organic & Inorganic Au.
