Saumen Chakraborty
Dr. Chakraborty received his BS from the University of Calcutta and MS from the Indian Institute of Technology. He then did his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, studying de novo-designed metalloproteins. He graduated in 2011 and completed post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Illinois in rational protein design and Los Alamos National Laboratory in electrocatalysis and bionanomaterials. He became an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi in 2016 and received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor in 2022. His research interests are protein design and creating artificial biocatalysts for bioenergy and health-relevant processes.
