Eunsung Lee 21st International Conference on Biological Inorganic Chemistry 2025

Eunsung Lee

Eunsung Lee received his B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from POSTECH and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford University in 2009. During his graduate studies, he focused on palladium catalysis for C-F bond formation. As a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University under Professor Tobias Ritter, he developed novel methods to rapidly incorporate [18F]fluoride into aromatic groups. In 2013, Eunsung joined the faculty in the Department of Chemistry at POSTECH, becoming an associate professor in 2017 and a full professor in 2023. In early 2024, Lee and his research team transitioned to Seoul National University. The Lee group's research centers on leveraging main group elements to create innovative ligands and catalysts. A key area of interest is the development and application of new organic radicals based on N-heterocyclic carbenes. The team is driven by the belief that through thoughtful design and synthesis, chemistry can produce remarkable functional molecules, potentially leading to groundbreaking discoveries in both organic and inorganic chemistry.
